Project Overview

We were brought in to perform focused repairs across approximately 3,100 square feet of low-slope roofing serving Redmond’s Complete Comfort. The priority was to stop active leaks without turning a repair into a full rebuild. We identified the leak-prone conditions, repaired skylight and flashing areas, sealed punctures caused by fasteners in the field, and cleaned up the work area so the finished roof was tight, stable, and ready to perform through the next weather cycle.

Location

In Lock Haven we see it all the time where spring rain finds every weak seam, summer heat that expands materials and stresses transitions, then winter cycles that punish anything that was “almost sealed.” Low-slope roofs feel that stress first at changes in plane and at interruptions in the field: skylights, edges, terminations, and any penetration.

For a local contractor, a leaky roof can be a major operations problem. Recurring moisture threatens interiors, finishes, and whatever is happening beneath the roof that day. This repair scope was built around the local reality: stop water entry at the details that fail most often, and do it in a way that holds up as temperatures and moisture swing hard.

Roof System and Materials

The roof system here included liquid-applied urethane roofing with TPO sections, installed on a low-slope deck (approximately 1/8-inch per foot). Mixed systems like that can perform extremely well, but only if the transitions and terminations are treated with discipline. Most repeat leaks happen where one material ends and another detail begins.

We completed general repairs focused on the usual failure points: skylight conditions, flashing transitions, and punctures in the field created by exposed fasteners. Where punctures were present, we did not just “dab and go.” We prepped the area, sealed the opening, and reinforced the repair so it behaved like a real patch, not a temporary plug. Where flashing was failing or separated, we rebuilt the seal so water could not push underneath during wind-driven events. The visible repair materials included compatible roof mastics and sealants (including trowel-grade roofing cement visible on site), applied in a controlled way to restore continuity at the repair zones.

The underlying logic was simple: water gets in where continuity breaks. So we restored continuity where it had clearly broken.

About the Client

Redmond’s Complete Comfort is a heating contractor based in the Lock Haven area. For a trade business, the building needs to stay dry and usable. It needs to be a place where work can happen without the constant distraction of buckets, stains, and the creeping uncertainty of “what happens the next time it storms.” In this project, our maintenance and repair work was aimed at protecting the facility and preventing small defects from turning into structural problems.

Quality Highlights

For us, the goal was to deliver to the Redmond’s a durable repair that reduced callbacks and kept water out so that their business could continue to operate cleanly and effectively. We addressed the details that usually fail first, and we left the roof in a clean, stable condition that can handle normal Lock Haven seasonal swings. We kept the scope honest and delivered a clean, durable repair outcome that reduced risk immediately and bought meaningful time before any larger capital project is needed.

Flashing and transition repairs where low-slope roofs usually leak

We put most of the attention where these roofs actually fail: wall-to-roof transitions, corners, and changes in plane. Those spots take the most movement, they catch wind-driven rain, and they are where small gaps turn into repeat leaks. On this job, we tightened up those details so water cannot work its way behind the membrane at the edges.

Reinforced seam and field patching with compatible materials

We handled the open seams and damaged areas with a repair approach that is meant to stay put, not peel off after the next temperature swing. That means proper prep, then a reinforced repair using compatible roof cement and patching, with enough coverage to bridge the problem area instead of just smearing sealant over it. It’s the difference between “looks sealed today” and “still sealed after a season.”

A practical repair strategy that reduces callbacks and buys real time

This was a targeted repair, not a full tear-off, so the goal was to reduce risk immediately and extend the roof’s usable life without overpromising what a repair can do. Our team at RTG Solutions kept the scope honest, addressed the most likely leak paths first, and left the roof in a cleaner, more stable condition so Redmond’s Complete Comfort can focus on running their business instead of chasing water every time the weather turns.
